Daily Practices

As we are exploring the five elements in nature, we will incorporate daily yoga and ayurvedic techniques to explore the elements within. Sharing these practices while steeped in Chile’s natural surroundings will help us tap into our innate power and see how these elements shape and move our daily experiences. Often these subtle practices are more difficult to feel until you are closer to the elements.  When practicing a fiery practice, and close to the fire, you feel it’s power.  When exploring the element of water present within you, be close to the element of water and find it’s natural flow.  Ashley, Danny and Doreen invite you to participate in the wisdom of nature.

Pucón is a town in central Chile’s Lake District, lying on Lake Villarrica overlooked by the snow-capped Villarrica volcano. An adventure tourism hub, it’s renowned for access to hiking trails, water sports, white-water rafting and kayaking. The surrounding terrain ranges from lakeside beaches to temperate rainforest. Natural hot springs are found in nearby forested valleys. Surprising, cosmopolitan, energetic, sophisticated and worldly, Santiago is a city of syncopated cultural currents, expansive museums and top-flight restaurants.  With a growing economy, renovated arts scene and plenty of eccentricity to spare, Santiago is an old-guard city on the cusp of a modern-day renaissance. Few areas in the world possess a more mystical pull than this tiny speck of land, one of the most isolated places on Earth. It’s hard to feel connected to Chile, over 3700km to the east, let alone the wider world. Endowed with the most logic-defying statues on the planet – the strikingly familiar moai – Easter Island (Rapa Nui to its native Polynesian inhabitants) emanates a magnetic, mysterious vibe.

In order to dive into the elements, we have carefully selected 4 different adventures to be included on our retreat.  We will hike to the very top of an active, fiery, awe-inspiring volcano.  Doreen says reaching the top of this volcano was one of the most exhilarating moments of her life.  To create balance, we will enjoy a relaxing water float down one of the magical, calm rivers that make their way through Pucon.  Another fantastic hike is planned as we explore the earth element on a beautiful mountain.  At the top of this mountain we will enjoy a breathtaking pristine lake.  Knowing that all of these adventures and yoga practices may wake up muscles we didn’t know we had, we will spend a day soaking in nurturing hot springs.  There are plenty more optional adventures we can help you to plan or you can lounge in a hammock and eat a banana.

Lodging will vary from city to city.   While in Pucon, we will have exclusive use of the Okori Hostel, a rustic style hostel located in the native south Chilean woodlands just 5 minutes outside Pucon.  Surrounded by hot springs, waterfalls and a smoking volcano, this is a family-run woodland chalet.  A relaxing and homie environment, Okori has  a beautiful open area called Shangri-La to enjoy our yoga practices.  We will savor meals together on a communal dining table inside or on outside decking surrounded by trees and wild birds.  Rooms will be shared as we deepen our connection to community and share in this adventure together. In Santiago, we will stay in the city with easy connection to visit various neighborhoods and landmarks.   We are still in communication with Easter Island for the most optimal oceanfront venue to host our crew!
